Tracey’s thoughts as a survivor

MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER

*First and foremost, it’s a blessing to be called, titled, or recognized as a survivor. That statement alone can stir up a controversial debate, but it’s all about one’s own perspective on how they view life

Amazing Coversations with Survivors

Yes, I had a great life prior to a horrifying illness that almost took my life. But, you see where that power kicked in… almost! As I stand in front of you today with an Oscar-winning smile (the Grammys are too symmetrical!), I know that we should all smile more often. This community of survivors is made up of a tribe of warriors. We truly live a life on the edge, depending on where we are in recovery. You may or may not have full sensory awareness, whether from vision impairment, neuropathy, or the infamous brain scatter. So, when I say “on the edge,” check your surroundings before making any sudden movements.

Grab a handkerchief, pull down that arm, and ask your neighbor what I’m even talking about. I am blessed to have always lived a life of big faith! Faith is the unthinkable, confident, and wild… adventurous! That is the adjective most often used to describe Tracey’s life by my closest persons. That same faith has led me to know that God has a purpose and plan for this new journey ahead in my life!

Some of you may still be stuck in the mindset of “why me,” “my life sucks,” “will I ever get better, recover?” All valid woes, but we can’t allow our minds to keep us stuck in that moment. Once you become a survivor, underperforming is second nature, along with achieving far below our potential, resulting in an average or lackluster mentality, stagnant results, and low morale that hinder our chances to truly succeed. Now, imagine if you let that really sink in. What more to life is there? My limbs don’t work the same, and I carry a handkerchief as an essential. One side of my body looks like it was made by Pinocchio’s father; bend the elbow, curl the wrist, lift the hip, and ballet your foot, but be sure not to fall! Today, my mission is to help survivors learn to live and love life once again, embracing the new norm the best way we can. Our “pretty” isn’t the same as yours, but it’s great to us! And who’s to say your “pretty” is any better? My goal is to “light up” a survivor’s brain through techniques that stimulate fourteen regions of the brain, responsible for motivation, decision making, discipline, relationship management, creativity, and emotional control.
