BodyTrace Fit Healthy Youth Program Proposal

BodyTraceFit Healthy You (BTF-HY) promotes physical activity and education throughout the community and in Cuyahoga County. Physical inactivity often leads to obesity, resulting in higher absenteeism and lower academic performance. Federal guidelines recommend that children receive at least one hour of physical activity daily. However, only an estimated 1 out of 4 children and adolescents are reaching these guidelines. As a result, child obesity is a growing concern, and there are nationwide efforts to get young people active and educated about
healthier lifestyles.

What you will get with the program:

BTF-HY recognizes that health is a combination of physical and emotional wellness, and that we face barriers in both areas on a daily basis. Understanding the connection between the foods we consume and their effects on our bodies can help us educate young people about healthier lifestyles and hopefully reverse or cease the trend toward cardiovascular disease. BTF-HY provides nutritional guidance, cooking demonstrations, age-friendly educational wellness, and physical activities to build strong bones, improve mental health, and promote healthy eating habits. The program aims to decrease the likelihood of developing obesity while also reducing anxiety and depression. Activities include, but are not limited to, calisthenics, cardiovascular exercises, ball and band exercises, and stretching exercises such as walking and meditation. BTF-HY’s physical education activities assist students with refining motor skills, teaching self-discipline and respect for self and others, and influencing healthier eating habits.
